TESA ASSA ABLOY celebrates its 75th anniversary with a well-attended Open Doors Day


More than 500 people from all over ASSA ABLOY Iberia gathered at the factory in Irún. The multinational company, leader of the security system and access control market, was founded in 1941, initially focusing on the manufacturing of fittings for bags and travelling goods.

On Saturday the 11th of June, TESA ASSA ABLOY’s premises hosted a historic Open Doors Day.

As part of a commemorative series of 75th anniversary events, the event attracted 525 employees and relatives from different ASSA ABLOY Iberia offices – technical and business offices of the TESA ASSA ABLOY, Yale and Abloy brands, among others.

ASSA ABLOY Iberia’s Managing Director Kostis Telelis took part in the event and remarked on the exceptional path followed by the company, which was founded in 1941. In its first years, Tesa’s activity focused on the manufacturing of fittings for travelling bags. Nowadays TESA ASSA ABLOY has international presence and is the leader of the security system and access control market.

In the second part of the event, the attendants visited the different departments in the factory: masterkeying, technical engineering, mechanical lock assembly, export, marketing or the SMARTAir access control system, among others.

The event was complete with diverse product demonstrations, a magic performance act, stand-up comedy, a homage to the nine employees in the company with over 40 years’ experience and, finally, a dinner occasion.

TESA ASSA ABLOY employs nowadays 400 people, with a sales growth of 5% in 2015. Moreover, in the last few years, the development of new products such as the ENTR smart lock or the Code Handle, which integrates an electronic keypad, have coincided in time with a new business expansion thanks to new delegations in Dubai, Casablanca and Panamá.
