Project Summary: Schools and heritage sites present their own unique challenges when it comes to security and access control. But what about a school that is also a heritage site of exceptional value? This was the challenge faced by the security administrators at Colegio Diocesano Santo Domingo in Orihuela, Alicante.

The proyect
The Diocesan School is more than just a school. Its historic buildings date back to the 16th century; it is a heritage site as well as a place of learning, with a museum that also requires the protection of an access control system.
Therefore, the project to upgrade the access control system had to be carried out with minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations and adapted to the unique nature of the facilities. Its buildings are designated as a Site of Cultural Interest and are listed on Spain’s heritage registry, so they could not be damaged. Wireless locks were the obvious solution to their needs.
