TESA ASSA ABLOY will equip 22,000 doors with its SMARTair access control system for the futuristic NEOM The Line project in Saudi Arabia

In the first phase, TESA ASSA ABLOY will install its SMARTair access control solution in the five towns being built to accommodate the professionals collaborating on this massive project

NEOM The Line is the name given to this project located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, which involves the construction of four enormous structures, with special attention given to the city of The Line. The city is designed from scratch to accommodate a population of 9 million people in the middle of the desert.

As part of this unprecedented initiative, TESA ASSA ABLOY will be responsible for equipping five towns with the SMARTair access control system. These towns are being built to accommodate professionals participating in the execution of this mega project. These professionals include architects, surveyors, consultants, engineers, assemblers, and more, who will reside in various housing units throughout the years of construction.

All the housing units will be prefabricated and installed in the middle of the desert, after the sand movement, for approximately eight years. With over 15 towns under construction, TESA ASSA ABLOY has secured the contract to equip five of them, which entails installing over 22,000 doors with their SMARTair solution. Furthermore, there is the possibility of new opportunities arising in other towns where the bidding process is taking place.

According to the company's Marketing Director, Carlos Expósito, "We have conducted meticulous work in identifying the project, preparing the proposal, and providing continuous support and close collaboration between our team in Irun and the Saudi counterparts. Undoubtedly, our SMARTair solution has prevailed due to its advanced security features and access control functionalities, even in such extreme environments as Saudi Arabia."

An innovative software solution

With its involvement in the NEOM The Line project, TESA ASSA ABLOY reaffirms its position as a leader in the security and access control systems sector, thanks to a solution created by the engineers of this company. SMARTair is based on the combination of an intuitive access control software and wireless locking elements that determine who can open each door. It also provides detailed information on the security status of the facility, allowing users to know who enters, where, and when. The doors can be opened in multiple ways (using electronic cards, a smartphone app, etc.), and in case of loss or theft, access credentials can be instantly canceled and new credentials issued immediately. This Gipuzkoan-made solution will be used by more than 50,000 workers in this Saudi construction project.

As Carlos Expósito indicates, "As the project progresses, the company expects to continue contributing to the development of a secure and efficient environment in NEOM The Line, one of the most promising and innovative projects worldwide."

"The Line," the flagship construction of the NEOM project, is a concept of a linear city designed to be sustainable and planned without streets or cars to eliminate carbon emissions. The city is expected to have a length of approximately 170 kilometers and is located on the Gulf of Aqaba of the Red Sea.
