The company and all the trade unions have agreed to collaborate with the EITB Maratoia, which this year will donate all the profits to research into Alzheimer's disease.

The staff of TESA ASSA ABLOY have decided to donate the proceeds of the traditional Christmas lunch to the EITB Maratoia cause. This year, the proceeds will go to the Basque BIOEF Foundation for medical research into Alzheimer's disease. In an exercise of collective responsibility in the face of the current situation caused by the pandemic, it was deemed appropriate to cancel the traditional Christmas lunch. The employees therefore unanimously decided to donate the amount planned for this event to BIOEF through the EITB Maratoia.

This initiative of the Basque public radio station tries to raise funds every year for different charitable causes, with Alzheimer's research being the one chosen for this year. Thus, the employees of TESA ASSA ABLOY decided that the company should allocate the lunch money to this charitable objective, being for some of them one of the driving forces behind the EITB Maratoia 2021.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia. There is currently no cure, but there are treatments for the symptoms which, although they cannot stop the progression of the disease, can slow the worsening of symptoms for a time and improve the quality of life of sufferers and their carers. Work is currently underway around the world to find better ways to treat the disease, delay its onset and prevent its development.
