Unlocking energy efficiency

The role of Cam Motion® door closers in sustainable buildings

ASSA ABLOY, a global leader in access control solutions, has launched its new 2025 energy efficiency campaign, highlighting the key role played by Cam Motion® door closers in the sustainability of modern buildings.

Cam Motion® door closers are designed to improve airtightness, reduce heat loss and facilitate accessible entry, whilst complying with European standards such as EN 1154, EN 1634 and TR15894. Their technology enables a smooth, controlled closure, making them ideal for high-traffic environments such as hospitals, offices, hotels and shopping centres.

“Up to 18% of total heat loss in buildings is due to air infiltration,” states an AMCA report cited in the campaign. ASSA ABLOY door closers help to mitigate this problem, contributing to a reduction in energy consumption and operating costs.

In addition to their thermal efficiency, the products are made from durable materials such as stainless steel and aluminium, and have been tested to withstand up to 500,000 cycles of use, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

The campaign also highlights the importance of complying with regulations such as the EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the UK’s Part L, which require improvements in the energy performance of buildings.

With this initiative, ASSA ABLOY reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, accessibility and innovation in the design of greener, more efficient buildings.
